Local Tips from Braxton County
Around here, the turkeys tend to roost in the hardwood ridges above the hollows. Get in early — we're talking before first light — and set up where you can hear them gobble on the roost.
The Elk River WMA (15 minutes) and Burnsville Lake WMA (20 minutes) are both close to the shop. Good public land if you don't have private ground to hunt. Stop in and we can point you to some access points.
Early season, those gobblers are henned up pretty good. Be patient. Later in May, when the hens are nesting, the toms get lonely and come to calls a lot easier.
Need Calls, Camo, or Ammo?
We stock turkey loads, calls, and camo. Stop by the shop before the season opens and we'll make sure you're set.
